WELCOME TO BORROWASH VICTORIA A.F.C.
Borrowash Victoria was first formed in 1911 playing in the Long Eaton and District Church League before and after the First World War. In the 1930’s the club moved for a short time to the Derby & District Amateur League but returned two years before the Second World War. Resuming in 1948 as Borrowash Wesleyan Youth Club. The club was successful in the Derby & District Welfare League winning the title in 1953, but falling away to disband in 1957.
Six years later they took the place of Borrowash Youth Club in a lower division of the Welfare league and began a rise in status with outstanding consistency over the next twenty years. They gained promotion year after year progressing through the Central Alliance and East Midlands Regional Leagues into the Midland Counties League, by which time the club had become one of the leading amateur clubs in Derbyshire.
Champion & Cup Winners in 1980/1981 of the Midland League Division One they were denied promotion because of the inadequate ground facilities at Deans Drive, Borrowash. When the Midland League and Yorkshire League merged in 1982 to form the Northern Counties East Football League within the pyramid system Borrowash Victoria won the Division One South managed by Neil Kellogg & Tom Keogh at the first attempt by a clear margin but once again the facilities prevented promotion to the Premier Division.
The club decided to move grounds to the new venue at the Asterdale in the neighbouring village of Spondon. The Asterdale bowl was developed with floodlights, perimeter fencing, dressing rooms and a covered spectator standing area. This enabled the club to enter the F A Cup & F A Vase.
In 1986 a number of leading Midland based clubs became disillusioned with the Northern Counties East Football League and formed the Supreme Division of the Central Midlands Football League of which they became a founder member.
In the summer of 1993 the Asterdale club owners decided to offer the bowl complex to the Vics and after long and hard negotiations and help from the local council the site was purchased. In 1998 the club built a 250 all seated stand with a huge amount of help from Robinson Construction Limited which gave the club the springboard to move forward up the pyramid system.
The club returned to the Northern Counties East Football League in 1995 where they held their own in Division One. Season 2000/2001 saw the club win the Division One Title under the guidance of Mick Rodgers and Gary Adul but this time the facilities were good enough to allow them to gain promotion to the Premier Division of the Northern Counties East Football League which was the highest level of football that the club had achieved in its long history.
This season another chapter in the club’s history which saw them move across to the East Midlands Counties Football League with Gedling Town. The remaining clubs in the division coming from the Central Midlands Supreme Division and the Leicestershire Senior League. Since reforming in 1963 the club has gained many honours including four championships, three league cups, numerous cup final and semi final appearances and league cup finalists on twelve occasions.
The Derbyshire Divisional Cup South was won in 1973/1974 and since 1975 the club has been a selected entrant in the Derbyshire Senior Cup. In 1992/1992 under the guidance of Martin Rowe the club were one round away from the first round proper of the F A Cup losing to Emley 3-0 after beating St Helens Town 3-1, Belper Town 2-0, and Macclesfield Town of the Vauxhall Conference 2-1. The club has also reached the last 32 of the F A Vase losing to Bridlington Town 3-1 in 1990/1991 & Hallen 2-1 in 2000/2001. They also reached the Final of the Derbyshire Senior Cup in 1990/1991 losing to Gresley Rovers in a two legged final.
