Hinckley FC..............1 (Stevenson 23) Gedling MW..............0
The Miners travelled to the Greene King Stadium in Hinckley and put in a lack lustre performance and got what they deserved when they lost to a 23rd minute strike.
Manager Graham Walker said “We had a bad day at the Office. We had too many players who did not perform on the day and this could quite well be down to the effort put in on Tuesday night, when we went to extra time and penalties on a very heavy Plains Road pitch. There were some very tired legs out there today, but every team is entitled to an off day and hopefully that is our bad performance out of the way for this season”
Hinckley secured the points when Danny Gallagher put in a right wing cross which Ross Cherry failed to deal with and the ball fell to Jonathan Stevenson who made no mistake from close range. The rest of the game was played out mainly in mid-field with very few scoring chances falling to either team.
This ended Gedling’s eight match undefeated run, but hopefully they can start again when they travel to Radcliffe on Trent to take on Olympic on Tuesday night.
